Seniors - Beach - Playa - Mayores - Live long - Costa Blanca

The Costa Blanca has long been known for the healthy lifestyle it offers, but surely, there must be something more going on to have the largest population of over 100-year-old people... right? Well, there is a little well-known secret about the region we live in, as we have 2 salt lakes that are backed by mountains and faced by the ocean, a micro-climate effect takes place. According to the World Health Organisation, this area has the healthiest climate in Europe. An average of 17 degrees in January is of course fantastic, but in the winter, the temperatures during the day can go up to 20, 24 degrees, or warmer.

It's not just the unique climate that contributes to people living longer on the Costa Blanca, the Mediterranean diet plays a big part in keeping us going for over 100 years. The typical diet consists of large quantities of fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, fish, and olive oil—coupled with physical activity— can reduce your risk of serious mental and physical health problems.

No wonder it's so many people dream to start a new life on the South-East coast of Spain.
